World of Warcraft Forever brings new quests, zones, raids, dungeons and a new playable race to the Classic WoW experience

Blizzard has revealed World of Warcraft: Forever, a new take on the original Vanilla-era Azeroth with over 1,000 new quests, new zones, dungeons, raids and a new playable race. The project will be a separate entity from Modern WoW and Classic WoW and will not replace either of them. It was announced during BlizzCon 2026.

For longtime players who’ve been combing through World of Warcraft forums for a true Classic-style expansion, Forever may be the answer to years of cries for more content without losing the original level-60 structure. Blizzard has announced a November 4, 2026 release date, with a beta starting September 17.

World of Warcraft Forever – You are trapped at level 60

World of Warcraft: Forever is based on the original 1-60 adventure, unlike the current game. Players aren’t only going to be going to a higher level cap. Instead, Blizzard is expanding the existing universe with fresh material, new progression systems, new talents, new professions, and new stories.

Thus Forever can carve its own niche apart from World of Warcraft Midnight, a new twist on the genre. Forever is about expanding Azeroth as it was in Vanilla and keeping people together inside the level 60 boundaries.

The project also gives Blizzard an opportunity to explore parts of Azeroth that were mostly disregarded in the original game.

Over 1,000 New Quests and 3 New Zones

One of the big additions is the inclusion of over 1,000 more jobs throughout the level 1-60 experience. Blizzard has announced three new large zones, Mount Hyjal, Riverglades and Zephras Isle.

Archimonde’s annihilation, Mount Hyjal is cleaning up after him and Riverglades is opening up as a brand new frontier with 150+ missions. Zephras Isle is a crucial launch site for the new Skyborne race. Other aspects of the original world have also been added or changed by Blizzard.

The scope of the mission extension may also provide players a fresh motivation to see the landscape rather than run the same basic levelling pathways.

New Race, Dungeons and Raids

The big new character addition is the Skyborne. They are a new race added to play for Forever, offering another opportunity for those who want to experience the expanded Azeroth with a different identity.

The new race also falls in line with Blizzard’s wider effort to increase race-and-class combinations. Of special interest to those who have spent years combing World of Warcraft forums for strange character combinations.

Forever will also contain nine completely new dungeons and two new raids, which will include 10-player and 20-player raid content. The new end-game activities are designed to provide Classic-focused players more challenges without lifting the level cap above level 60.

What About Undead, Elves and Other Classic Races?

Whether it’s World of Warcraft elves spread out throughout Azeroth or the undead World of Warcraft characters of the Horde, Classic Warcraft fans have had strong feelings about the races in the game for a long time.

Instead of abandoning that basic base, Forever builds on it. Blizzard is introducing new race/class combos, and the new race is the Skyborne, a new race of elves. That might make character creation and class options some of the most interesting parts of the new experience.

Fans of the game’s mythology will also get new destinations and themes to explore including Shen’dralas and the improved background of the Shen’dralar and Dire Maul.
